Mr. Derrick has nearly 20 years of experience in the aviation industry, serving in all facets of operations in both general aviation and airline service.  He has worked in general aviation and air carrier operations under Parts 91, 121, and 135.  He also has provided all levels of flight instruction under Part 61.  Mr. Derrick has served as a pilot for Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA),
Delta Connection, and United Airlines.  He most recently served as a first officer on the
Airbus A319/320 fleet for United Airlines.

During an airline furlough, Mr. Derrick worked for the TSA as an Aviation Security Specialist in the Office of General Aviation Security Policy.  He soon transitioned to the Airline Security group under the Office of Transportation Security Policy, and ultimately became a Supervisory Transportation Security Specialist in the Airline Security Policy group of the Airlines Office in Transportation Sector Network Management.  Mr. Derrick assisted with policy development and interpretation, drafted regulations, and supported rulemaking teams in developing notices of proposed rulemaking and interim final rules.  Mr. Derrick also served as a policy adviser for and led several key rulemakings at TSA.

As Director of Industry Affairs at PAI, Mr. Derrick performs corporate flight department reviews, compliance reviews, and IS–BAO audits.  He also supports several active safety studies and rulemaking projects.  His unique combination of operational aviation and federal government policymaking and rulemaking experience has provided him with the ability to understand all facets of the industry when participating in studies, rulemaking efforts, and safety audits.  Mr. Derrick is an IBAC-accredited IS–BAO auditor.
